The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and passing of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed across Bangladesh on Monday with due religious and spiritual solemnity.

The day, falling on the 12th of Rabiul Awal in the Hijri calendar, commemorates the birth of the Prophet (PBUH) in 570 CE in Makkah, as well as his passing.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, have issued separate messages greeting the people of Bangladesh and Muslims around the world on the occasion.

In his message, President Mohammed Shahabuddin highlighted the significance of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, calling it a “sacred and glorious day” for Muslims worldwide. He stated that Allah had sent Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) as ‘Rahmatullil Alamin’, a blessing for all of creation.

The President described the Prophet (PBUH) as ‘Sirajam Monira,’ an enlightened light in a world overshadowed by sin, injustice, and falsehood.

“He (PBUH) showed the path of light during an era of sinful acts, injustice, falsehood, and darkness, and established a society based on truth, beauty, and justice,” the President said.

He further noted that the final sermon of the Prophet (PBUH) during his last Hajj would serve as a guide for humanity for eternity.

“May the Almighty Allah grant us the ability to work for the welfare of our country, nation, and humanity by following the noble ideals of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Ameen,” the President concluded.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, in his message, also emphasised the Prophet’s (PBUH) role as ‘Rahmatullil Alamin,’ sent by Allah for the peace, progress, and welfare of the entire world.
