Staff Reporter :
The government has made extensive arrangements to ensure peaceful observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, which will be commemorated across Bangladesh today with religious solemnity, marking both the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Authorities have placed particular emphasis on smooth and secure congregations and processions in major cities including Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi.
Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury directed law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert and
ensure foolproof arrangements, especially at major mosques and religious venues where large gatherings are expected.
Enhanced surveillance, patrolling of sensitive locations, and efficient crowd management measures have already been activated. Traffic regulation has also been prioritized to facilitate the movement of devotees.
The Islamic Foundation (IF) and various government and non-government organizations have chalked out elaborate programs nationwide. Religious discussions, Qur’an recitations, special prayers, and processions are scheduled to take place throughout the day.
Muslims across the globe regard this day as one of the most sacred, commemorating the life and message of the Prophet (PBUH), who is revered as “Rahmatul-lil-Alamin” – a mercy for all creation.
On the eve of the occasion, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus extended his heartfelt greetings to Muslims worldwide, including those in Bangladesh. In a message, he described the day as “sacred and glorious,” honoring the greatest human being, the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah.
Quoting from the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Anbiya, verse 107, Professor Yunus said: “O Prophet, I have sent you only as a mercy for the entire world.”
He highlighted the Prophet’s role as Sirajam Munira – a shining lamp – who brought the message of peace, justice, and welfare to liberate humanity from the darkness of superstition, injustice, slavery, and sin.
The Chief Adviser emphasized that the Prophet’s extraordinary devotion to Allah, his noble character, and his boundless compassion made his life an Uswatun Hasanah – “a beautiful example” – as described in the Quran.
“In today’s conflict-ridden world, the Prophet’s universal teachings and adherence to his Sunnah are the keys to establishing peace, justice and harmony,” Professor Yunus said. “His ideals in both religious and worldly matters are the best model for emulation and contain the seeds of eternal success and peace for Muslims.”
The Chief Adviser prayed for continued peace, prosperity, and unity of the Muslim Ummah, expressing hope that the observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi would inspire all to uphold and embody the Prophet’s ideals in their daily lives.
“May the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) ensure our collective welfare and salvation in this life and after-life. Ameen,” he concluded.
