Ehsanul Haque, a prominent name in the Bangladeshi film industry, is making waves with his groundbreaking contributions to cinema. Over the past 14 years, Haque has become a key figure in transforming Bangla film production, gaining international acclaim for his visionary work.
Haque’s most notable achievement came in 2021 with the film “Rehana Maryam Noor”, which made history as the first Bangladeshi film selected for the official competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The film’s success continued globally, with screenings at prestigious venues including the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York. “Rehana Maryam Noor” garnered several international awards, including Best Feature Film at both the Cinema Jove Valencia International Film Festival and the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal in 2023.
Haque’s earlier work also earned significant recognition. His debut feature, “Live from Dhaka” (2016), won Best Director and Best Actor awards at the Singapore International Film Festival. The film was showcased at major international festivals such as Rotterdam, Locarno, and Jeonju. Additionally, his web series “Refugee” (2022), streamed on the Indian platform Hoichoi, further underscores his versatility and adaptability in the entertainment industry.
In the advertising world, Haque has produced over 500 commercials for leading global brands like Huawei, Samsung, and Nestle, as well as major national names such as Grameenphone and Bashundhara Group. His extensive work in this domain has significantly impacted television and digital media in Bangladesh.
