‘Efforts ongoing with India’

Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Farooq-e-Azam has stated that efforts are ongoing to maintain communication with affected people and that they are trying to establish contact with India.

He emphasized the need to urgently save lives amidst the nationwide floods.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Council at the Chief Adviser’s Office on Thursday. After the meeting, the adviser spoke to journalists. The Disaster and Relief Adviser said that the country is experiencing an unexpected flood situation. It has been decided to coordinate efforts involving the Army, Navy, and Anti-Discrimination Movement coordinators to manage the floods. Efforts are underway to maintain as much communication with the people as possible.

Regarding communication with India, he said that the flood appears to have occurred suddenly, with reports suggesting that India has released water from dams. This matter was discussed in the advisory council meeting, and efforts are being made to contact India.

He said that there was no prior indication of this flood, as the sudden influx of water from upstream was unexpected. However, there is no confirmed information about India releasing water. The government is working on establishing contact with India. Adviser Farooq-e-Azam also mentioned that discussions on this issue will take place on Thursday.
