Educo Bangladesh and ESDO have officially renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further advance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
The joint signing ceremony was successfully held in collaboration with key partners – Bangladesh Korea Technical Training Center (BKTTC), Xinxian Hospitality and Training Institute, and e-Learning and Earning Limited.
This renewed partnership falls under the “Leveraging Youth Employment in Bangladesh through Improving Their Employability and Competitiveness to Fit with the 21st Century Job Market (LIFT)” project.
The initiative aims to enhance the employability and technical skills of marginalized youth in Dhaka city, empowering them to compete in an evolving and dynamic job market.
The chief guest at the event was Md. Abdur Rahim, Director of Programs, Educo Bangladesh.
The event was chaired by Md. Zillur Rahman, Finance Controller & Head of Compliance at ESDO. Additionally, Shahriar Mahmud, Head of TVET at ESDO, who shared detailed insights on the project’s activities and significance.
Representatives from various technical and vocational education institutions, district social service officials, youth development officials, trainees and their guardians, as well as other officers from Educo and ESDO were also present, says a press release.
The prime goal of the project is to enhance the employability of 300 disadvantaged youth (ages 16-22) and create sustainable, productive employment opportunities for them.
As part of the initiative, various skill development training and workshops will be organized to equip the youth with the 21st century job market competencies.
The collaboration between BKTTC, Xinxian Hospitality and Training Institute, and e-Learning and Earning Limited will strengthen the implementation process of the project, making it more effective.
Speakers at the event emphasized that the project would expand employment opportunities for youth in Dhaka and help to improve their socio-economic conditions.
Afzal Kabir Khan stated, “Through this joint initiative, new doors of a brighter future will open for the youth, which will improve their quality of life and contribute to the country’s economic development.”
The speakers of the programme advised that training activities would continue through Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutes.
They expect that the LIFT project, will also create dignified and productive employment opportunities for the disadvantaged youth by contributing significantly to the local economy and ensuring sustainable development in the long term.
