As part of the marathon preparations for the upcoming 13th parliamentary poll, the Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to hold dialogues with different stakeholders of the election on Monday and Tuesday.
According to the EC schedule, it would sit with the media representatives, election experts and women leaders on Monday focusing on comprehensive consultation with them to garner opinions and suggestions necessary for holding free, fair and peaceful elections.
The dialogue chaired by the Chief Election Commission AMM Nasir Uddin would be held at the EC Secretariat Conference room at Agargoan in the capital. Other four election commissioners and EC’s senior officials would also join the event.
The meetings would have two segments starting from 10:30am to 12:30pm when EC would listen to the journalists of the electronic media while the second part would be held with print media journalists from 2:30 pm to 4:30pm.
EC’s Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md Ruhul Amin Mallik said that the commission is holding the meetings to gather information and voices from a range of stakeholders including journalists, election experts and women leaders who opinions are important for a good election.
Apart from it, the EC would hold another round of dialogue with election experts from 10:30am to 12:30pm and women leaders from 2:30pm to 4:30pm on Tuesday.
Such dialogue has been taking place since September 28. According to EC, it is holding talks with various stakeholders including political parties, eminent educationists, intellectuals, civil society members, observers and July fighters who ousted the previous Awami League government in a mass uprising last year.
