Scholarship examinations for Ebtedayee-level students at madrasas are set to return nearly 17 years after they were last held.
The last time fifth-grade Ebtedayee students sat for the scholarship exams under the Directorate of Primary Education was in 2008. This year, the tests will take place at the end of December, said Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, controller of examinations at the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, reports bdnews24.com.
“We are aiming to hold it between the 21st and 28th of December,” he said. He added that Upazila education officers have already been informed.
Kamrul explained that the exam will cover six subjects across five papers: Quran Majid and Aqeedah o Fiqh, Arabic First and Second Papers, Bangla, English, and a combined paper for Mathematics and Science. “Mathematics and Science will be tested in one paper. Each paper will carry 100 marks. The exams are expected to be held on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 28th December,” he said.
Fifth-grade students at independent Ebtedayee madrasas approved by the madrasa board and those affiliated with Dakhil madrasas will be eligible to participate, though only up to 40 percent of students from each institution may take part.
“We will soon publish the detailed syllabus and mark distribution,” Kamrul added.
