Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has published its Sustainability Report 2024, showcasing its leadership in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in Bangladesh’s banking sector.
Prepared according to IFRS S1 and S2 standards, the report highlights EBL’s efforts in climate risk management, greenhouse gas accounting, and transparency.
Managing Director Ali Reza Iftekhar said the report reflects the bank’s role in integrating climate risk assessment into operations to boost resilience and accountability, according to press release.
Recognised among the top ten sustainable banks by Bangladesh Bank, EBL conducted a comprehensive climate risk assessment across its lending portfolio and completed a full GHG emissions inventory, supporting Bangladesh’s climate goals and the Paris Agreement.
