Durbar Rajshahi recorded an easy 28-run victory over Khulna Tigers in their match of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Sent into bat first, Durbar Rajshahi piled up a satisfactory 178 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then all out Khulna Tigers for 150 off 19.3 overs.
Durbar Rajshahi had a good start with two openers Mohammad Haris and Jishan Alam put on together 44 runs in the opening stand before Mohammad Haris was bowled out by Nasum Ahmed.
Haris made 27 from 20 deliveries featuring four fours and a sixer.
One-down Anamul Haque (7) was dismissed by Nasum Ahmed when Rajshahi’s total was 54 for the loss of two wickets.
Second-down Meherob Hasan (5) was bowled out by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when Rajshahi’s score was 61 for the loss of three wickets.
Jishan Alam was dismissed by Mohammad Newaz when Rajshahi’s total was 67 for the loss of 67 runs.
Jishan Alam scored 23 from 22 balls including three fours.
After Jishan’s dismissal, third-down Yasir Ali and Ryan Burl repaired the damage contributing together 88 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Yasir Ali was bowled out by Abu Hider when Rajshai’s score was 155 for the loss of five wickets.
Yasir Ali hit a quick-fire 41. His 25-ball innings had three fours and two sixes.
After Yasir Ali’s departure, Ryan Burl and Akabar Ali added together 23 runs in the unbroken sixth wicket stand when Rajshahi’s innings came to an end.
Ryan Burl remained unbeaten with 48 runs. He hit seven fours and a sixer in his 29-ball knock. Ryan Burl captured two wickets instead of 13 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Akbar Ali remained unbeaten with 21 runs. He hit three fours and sixer in his nine-ball innings.
Nasum Ahmed captured two wickets in the space of 20 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraqz, Mohammad Newaz and Abu Hider took one wicket each conceding 26, 27 and 33 runs respectively.
Later, second-down Afif Hossain and third-down Mahidul Islam Ankon of Khulna Tigers could build a notable partnership scoring together 31 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Afif Hossain was dismissed by Ryan Burl when Khulna Tigers’ total was 90 for the loss of four wickets.
Mahidul Islam was the only batter of Khulna Tigers who could make a notable score. He hit a polished 33. His 30-ball innings was decorated with three fours and a sixer.
Rajshahi bowlers totally dominated over Khulna batters. Sohag Gazi, Taskin Ahmed claimed two wickets each giving 27 and 30 runs respectively.
Shafiqul Islam, Jishan Alam, Meherob Hasan and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury picked up one wicket each instead of three, 18, 25 and 31 runs respectively.
