Chittagong Kings posted an easy five-wicket win over Rangpur Riders in their match of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the Capital’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
Chasing Rangpur’s insufficient total of 143 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Chittagong Kings coasted home making 148 for the loss of five wickets remaining with 14 deliveries.
Chittagong Kings collected 12 points from 10 matches, while Rangpur Riders bagged 16 points from 11 outings.
Chittagong lost their early two wickets for 29 runs.
Opener Parvez Hossain Emon and second-down Mohammad Mithun repaired the damage contributing together 34 runs in the third wicket stand before Mohammad Mithun (20) was bowled out by Mohammad Saifuddin when Chittagong’s total was 63 for the loss of three wickets.
After Mithun’s dismissal, Parvez Hossain Emon and Haider Ali put on together 43 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Emon was caught & bowled out by Mohammad Saifuddin when Chittagong’s score was 103 for the loss of four wickets.
Haider Ali remained unbeaten with 48 runs. He cracked six sixers and one four in his 18-ball windy innings. Haider Ali was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding innings.
Emon hit a polished 41. His 43-run knock was laced with two fours and two sixes.
Later, Haider Ali and Rahatul Ferdous added together 30 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership and helped their side to reach the victory target. Fersous remained unbeaten with six runs.
Mohammad Saifuddin and Akif Javed bagged two wickets each for 25 and 37 runs respectively.
Rangpur Riders faced a disaster as they lost five wickets for 68 runs.
Second-down Iftikhar Ahmed and fifth-down Mahedi Hasan built a remarkable partnership scoring together 75 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership before Chittagong’s innings came to an end.
Iftikhar Ahmed remained unbeaten with 65 runs. His 47-ball innings had three sixes and seven fours.
Mahedi Hasan remained unbeaten with 22 runs. He hit three sixes in his 20-ball knock.
Khaled Ahmed captured two wickets instead of 44 runs, while Shamim Hossain and Shoriful Islam picked up one wicket each for 10 and 34 runs respectively.
