Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday said the results of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) and Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (Jucsu) elections will play a role in determining the course of the upcoming national polls.

“By the grace of Allah, Islami Chhatra Shibir has achieved victory in the Ducsu and Jucsu elections. This triumph will have an impact on the next parliamentary election, Inshallah.

We intend to participate in all 300 constituencies alongside those who support us and whom we also support,” he remarked while addressing the Majlish-e-Shura of the party’s central women’s wing in Dhaka’s Moghbazar.

He appealed to Jamaat members and well-wishers to contribute financially and provide every possible form of assistance to ensure success in the national election.

“I urge everyone to step forward with financial contributions and wholehearted cooperation so that we may achieve victory in that election,” he added.

Shafiqur alleged that during the past 15 years of what he described as “fascist governance,” countless people had been killed, injured, or compelled to flee abroad.

“Many are still receiving treatment, and we pray for their recovery,” he said.

The Jamaat Ameer further claimed that party leaders and activists had faced “arrests, imprisonment, and repression under the Awami fascist regime,” and that their sacrifices had made it possible for the party to now operate in a comparatively freer environment.

Calling on activists to remain modest, he cautioned, “Do not let excitement turn into arrogance. We must always stay humble and serve the people sincerely.”
