A representative conference with elected representatives of Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) and Hall Councils was held today, Wednesday, in the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University, organised by the DUCSU.
At the beginning of the conference, the holy Quran was recited by Tajinur Rahman, an executive member of DUCSU.
This was followed by the reading of the Gita by Ratul De Dipto, Cultural Secretary of Jagannath Hall Council, and the Tripitaka by Sarbamitro Chakma, another DUCSU executive member. The national anthem was then performed. After the anthem, prayers were held to remember all the martyrs and injured from the Language Movement to the July revolution.
The prayer was led by Sakhawat Zakaria, DUCSU’s Law and Human Rights Secretary, says a press release. The conference was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University and DUCSU President Professor Dr. Niyaz Ahmed Khan, with DUCSU General Secretary SM Farhad as the moderator.
Speeches were delivered by the University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, DUCSU Treasurer and Finance Department Chair Professor Dr. HM Mosharraf Hossain, and DUCSU Vice President Sadik Kayem.
DUCSU presented a report on the activities of the past two months, which was showcased through a slide presentation by General Secretary SM Farhad.
