The High Court has ordered the postponement of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections. The elections have been postponed until October 30.
The High Court issued this order on Monday (September 1).
Earlier, the schedule for DUCSU elections was announced. According to the schedule, voting for DUCSU and Hall elections is scheduled to be held on September 9. This time, a total of 471 candidates are contesting against 28 DUCSU posts. Out of these, 62 are female candidates. And the highest number of 217 candidates are contesting for the membership post. And a total of 1,035 candidates will contest for 13 posts in 18 halls.

The nomination papers of 10 candidates who were eliminated in the primary selection process have been declared cancelled as they did not appeal. In addition, 28 candidates withdrew their candidatures. As a result, the Election Commission has finally published the list of 471 candidates.
Of these, 45 are Vice Presidents (VP), 19 General Secretaries (GS), 25 Assistant General Secretaries (AGS), 17 Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary, 11 Common Room, Reading Room and Cafeteria Secretary, 14 International Secretary, 19 Literary and Cultural Secretary, 12 Science and Technology Secretary, 9 Research and Publication Secretary, 13 Sports Secretary, 12 Student Transport Secretary, 17 Social Service Secretary, 15 Health and Environment Secretary, 11 Human Rights and Legal Affairs Secretary and 15 Career Development Secretary. In addition, the names of 217 people have been finalized as members.
