DU SKHTF scholarship awards 63 students

The poet Sufia Kamal Hall Trust Fund scholarship (SKHTF) was awarded to 63 female students from various departments and years at the University of Dhaka.

One student received the gold medal from the Trust Fund for outstanding results in the undergraduate (honours) exams, while 15 students were awarded merit scholarships.

Additionally, 40 students received general scholarships, and 8 students were granted co-curricular scholarships for excellence in extra-curricular activities.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, attended the ceremony held at the hall auditorium on the evening of November 10, 2025, as the chief guest and handed over the scholarship cheques to the students, says a DU press release.

The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Salma Nasrin, principal of Sufia Kamal Hall. Special guests included Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration), and Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer.

The gold medal recipient was Mosa: Nasrin Sultana from the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. Merit scholarship recipients included Jamiyat Tanzim (Sanskrit), Tasmiya Binte Didar (World Religion and Culture), Ashia Khatun Tamanna (International Business), Shamima Nasrin (Marketing), Tania Akter (Finance), Faharia Sultana (Management Information Systems), Tasnia Akter (Nutrition and Food Science Institute), Amrina Fairoz (Education and Research Institute), Mansura Manzil Chaiti (Public Administration), Rifa Nawar and Mosa: Nusrat Jabin Ira (Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), Sabiha Sultana (Botany), Laboni Akter (Statistics), Sadia Sihab Sinji (Mathematics), and Sraboni Sarkar (Electrical and Electronic Engineering).

General scholarship recipients from the first year included Nirupama Roy (Statistics Research and Teaching Institute), Mosa: Anjumanara Rakhi (Nutrition and Food Science Institute), Al-Samia Rahman Ima (Geology), Hridita Bhowmik Orn (Statistics), Mershabun Hasan Ashra (Chemistry), Mosa: Aklima Akter Tajmun (Zoology), Jinia Jerin Jemi (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), Sadia (Economics), Mosa: Azmin Akter (Persian Language and Literature), Mala Sikdar (Sanskrit), Tithi Rani Mondal (Philosophy), Nandita Pal (Information Science and Library Management), Sumaiya Anjum Himu (Islamic History and Culture), and Jamia Akter (Arabic).

Second-year general scholarship recipients were Munni Khanam (Development Studies), Masuma Akter Mimi (Peace and Conflict Studies), Farzana Basrin (Modern Language Institute), Sabikunnahar Samanta (Botany), Nusrat Jerin Rafa (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), Adiba Mehrin (Banking and Insurance), Umme Habiba Barsha (Geology), Nusrat Jahan (English), and Salma Khanam Arju (History).

Third-year general scholars included Israt Jahan Anannya (Accounting), Sadia Afrin Saifa Negaban (Meteorology), Khadija Akter (Geography and Environment), Mosa: Shila Akter (Botany), Najmun Nahar (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), Mosa: Jannatul Ferdous (Fisheries), Mosa: Sumi Akter (Zoology), Nusrat Jahan (Bengali), Jarin Anjum Tasnim (Law), Habiba Rahman Sanjari (Chemistry), Mosa: Rima Khatun (Nutrition and Food Science Institute), Arjita Sutradher (Mass Communication and Journalism), and Dipanwita Bhowmik (Economics).

Fourth-year recipients were Miss Shamim Ara Ripa (Fisheries), Lata Rani (Botany), Nasrin Sultana Setu (Economics), and Sidratul Muntaha Naina (Law).

Co-curricular scholarship recipients included Nusrat Jahan (Microbiology), Fariha Nowshin (English), Karishma Akter Kotha (Zoology), Pushpita Biswas (Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), Sumi Biswas (Botany), Tithi Rani (Sociology), Jiku Akter (Philosophy), and Srijoni De Mandira (Physics).
