DU set to host ‘Research Excellence Recognition 2025’

Dhaka University (DU) is set to host the ‘Research Excellence Recognition 2025’ ceremony on May 2, aiming to celebrate outstanding research achievements, promote a culture of innovation, and strengthen ties between academia and policy.

The event will commence at 4:30 PM at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, featuring two key sessions.

The first session, titled “The Importance of Investing in Higher Education,” will be chaired by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr Mamun Ahmed. Prof Abul Kashem Fazlul Haq, President of Bangla Academy, will attend as chief guest, while Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha will deliver the keynote.

Industry leaders and alumni will also weigh in on how investment in higher education drives sustainable growth and national development.

The second session, “DU Research Excellence Recognition 2025,” will honour approximately 300 faculty members and researchers from various departments and institutes for their impactful contributions to scholarly research.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad Khan will preside over the session, with Prof Wahiduddin Mahmud, Adviser to the Ministry of Planning, as chief guest. Prof Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, Adviser to the Ministry of Education, will attend as a special guest.

Researchers whose work was published in high-impact international journals between January and December 2024 will be formally recognised. The initiative also seeks to strengthen collaboration between researchers and policymakers, and to elevate the university’s research profile both nationally and globally.
