A total of 403 students involved in violence during the July mass uprising on the Dhaka University campus have been identified by the investigation committee formed by the Dhaka University administration.
DU Proctor’s office on Tuesday issued a notice to the accused students in a circular signed by Saifuddin Ahmed, the university’s Proctor and Member Secretary of ‘The investigation committee into illegal and violent incidents on the campus during the July movement’. The list of the accused 403 students has been published by the Public Relations Office.
The list of accused culprits includes Bangladesh Chhatra League, banned terrorist organization, Central President Saddam Hossain, General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, DU Chhatra League President Mazharul Kabir Shayon and DU General Secretary Tanvir Hasan Saikat, as well as leaders and activists of Chhatra League at various levels.
The notification states that a fact-finding committee was formed to identify those involved in the illegal and violent incidents that took place on the Dhaka University campus from July 15 to August 05, 2024 and bring them under administrative control.
The committee accused 128 students and submitted a report, and after detailed discussion at the Syndicate meeting on March 17, 2025, the students were temporarily expelled from the university.
The notification further states that an investigation committee consisting of 05 (five) members was formed later by the Syndicate to further investigate the illegal and violent incidents that took place on the campus. In the second meeting of the investigation committee, 385 more students, including 128, were found involved.
The notice urged the accused students to submit a written reply to the Proctor’s Office within 7 (seven) working days of the publication of the notification, showing the reasons why they should not be permanently expelled from Dhaka University for the crimes committed. Otherwise, unilateral action will be taken against you as per the rules of Dhaka University.
