Separate seminars were held in various faculties and departments of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday as part of a month-long seminar series on the occasion of the first anniversary of historic ‘July Uprising’.
Speakers at the seminars pledged to work together to build a non-discriminatory society by remembering the debt of the July Uprising.
A seminar titled ‘July Uprising 2024: Repetition of History and New Construction’ was held at the Faculty of Arts. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed presided over the seminar while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and other teachers spoke on the occasion.
Separate seminars were also held in the departments of Organization Strategy and Leadership, Physics, Chemistry and Psychology. In these seminars, teachers and students recalled the memories of the July Uprising and paid tribute to the martyrs.
The speakers mentioned that this mass uprising was a spontaneous movement of the people against long-standing injustice, discrimination and lack of good governance.
