Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, referring to the burial of Osman Hadi, has said, “Dhaka University has taken one of its children to its bosom today. The mother has got her child back again.
He made these remarks on Saturday afternoon. in a brief speech after the burial of Martyr Sharif Osman Hadi at the university’s central mosque premises.
He said, “Martyr Hadi is no longer just a person – he is history, he is an important part of the heritage of Bangladesh. The deep love and emotion that people have expressed in his death proves that the whole of Bangladesh is always united in the struggle to establish a just society against hegemony and injustice.”
The Vice-Chancellor said that the highest policy-making authority of Dhaka University, the Syndicate, unanimously decided to bury martyr Osman Hadi in the area adjacent to the shrine of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, based on the request of the family, the proposal of DUCSU leaders, the government’s instructions, and discussions with various organizations.
“Only a very few fortunate people have the opportunity to be buried in this cemetery that happened to martyr Hadi. This is a reflection of the nation’s deep respect for his contribution, said he.
VC hoped Hadi’s ideals will inspire people from generation to generation.
Regarding the trial of the murder, Professor Niaz said, “This brutal murder is not an ordinary crime; it is an attempt to silence an ideology.
He strongly demanded that the murderers be arrested as soon as possible and brought to justice, and expressed his firm belief that this struggle for justice will continue.
Meanwhile, as part of the state mourning for the death of martyr Osman Hadi, a state mourning was observed at Dhaka University today. On this occasion, the national flag was flown at half-mast in various important buildings, including the Vice-Chancellor’s building.
