As a part of its commitment to supporting and educating the students, the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Dhaka has recently organized an inaugural intra-departmental cultural competition, which featured a diverse spectrum of events including Tagore Song, Nazrul Geeti, Patriotic Song, Extempore speech, Debate, Dance, Chess and Table Tennis. The department was established in 1999, and embarked on a journey of fostering academic excellence and beyond. It hosts a wide array of distinctive events aimed at enriching the intellect, expanding knowledge and nurturing cultural awareness among the students.
Dr. Saber Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of the Department, stated that the event is an integral part of the department’s extracurricular program, designed to promote the mental and intellectual development of Students. He expressed his optimism that through such events, the students of the department will cultivate a deep interest in meaningful cultural discourse, and will be equipped to actively contribute to the cultural advancement of the nation. The competition which began on Tuesday morning (17th January) and continued until Wednesday evening (18th January) generated a great deal of excitement and enthusiasm among the participants and audience. The competition was attended by the students from various batches of the department, as well as esteemed faculty members were present on this occasion.
