The decision was taken in line with university traditions to honour and pay respects to the late professor, the university’s spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday.
The statement said following standard procedures for the passing of a former vice-chancellor and professor, the university arranged public announcements on campus, issued condolence messages, held special prayers at the central mosque, and observed other customary practices.
“Prof Arefin Siddique’s funeral prayers and burial arrangements were made in keeping with his family’s decision. The university administration respects this decision,” the statement added, reports bdnews24.com
