The country’s stock market opened the week with another slump, as the benchmark DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) continued its six-day losing streak amid sustained investor pessimism and declining market participation.
On Sunday, the DSEX fell by 68 points, closing at 4,899, its lowest level since July 2024. The blue-chip DS30 index, which tracks major large-cap companies, also shed 11 points to settle at 1,928, while the DSES index representing Shariah-based firms lost 10 points, ending at 1,070.
