The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has organised a workshop titled ‘Forfeiture of Pledged Shares’ for the officials of banks and non-banking financial institutions to discuss policy on handling pledged shares.

The DSE Training Academy and the Listing Affairs Department organised the workshop held on hybrid (online and offline) process on Wednesday.

Professionals from banks and NBFIs attended the workshop to way forward to handle pledged shares from the moment they (companies) are used as collateral for a loan to the point of forfeiture, reports BSS.

Major General (Retd.) Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Director of DSE, kicked off the event by calling it ‘extremely relevant and timely.’

He emphasised that the workshop was designed to provide a solid foundation in the rules surrounding securities pledging, release, and forfeiture, all in line with DSE listing regulations and CDBL by-laws. He added that while understanding the rules is crucial, practicing ethics is just as important for building a clean capital market. DSE’s Chief Operating Officer and Acting Managing Director, Mohammad Asadur Rahman, FCS, also spoke, noting that DSE plans to make these types of programmes a regular occurrence.
