DSE, CSE end week in positive

Share price index at the country’s twin bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – ended the week in positive as prices of most of the issues increased Thursday, after mixed bearish and bullish sessions over the last four days.
Most of the issues in the two bourses witnessed loss on Monday and Tuesday while they registered gain on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. The DSE’s turnover was up by about Tk 229 crore on the day.
Trading at both DSE and CSE began on positive note in the morning on Thursday and ended the day with nominal gain after some ups and downs throughout the session. The volume of trade in terms of value was higher at both the bourses on the day than on Wednesday.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 4.65 points or 0.09 percent to reach 4753.17 at the close of trading on Thursday. Of the 295 issues traded, 174 gained, 89 declined and 32 remained unchanged.
Most of the traded issues of the day included those from insurance, banking, technologies, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textile and petroleum sectors.
Shares worth Tk 856.98 crore changed hands at the DSE on the day against Tk 627.84 crore on Wednesday, showing daily turnover gain of Tk 229.14 crore.
The day’s top 10 gainers at the DSE were BD Building, Eastern Insurance, Rahim Textile, Libra Infusion, Desh Garments, Keya Cosmetics, Apex Ternary, Kohinoor Chemicals, Style Craft, and HR Textile.
Meghna Petroleum, Padma Oil, and Generation Next were the top most traded issues at the DSE in terms of value while United Air, Generation Next, and Keya Cosmetics were the most traded in terms of volume.
The CSE key index, CSCX gained 34.33 points to reach 9366.97 at the close today. Of the 231 issues traded, 118 advanced, 85 suffered loss and 28 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 71.12 crore on the day against Tk 56.99 crore on Wednesday.
Earlier, in the morning, the DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 30.81 points or 0.64 percent to reach 4779.32 at 11:05 am while the CSCX gained 29.10 points to stand at 9361.75, also at 11:05 am today.
