Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Dr Mohammed Sher Ali has expressed optimism about successfully controlling dengue fever through regular and special initiatives targeting the eradication of Aedes mosquito breeding sites.

On Wednesday, Dr Sher Ali provided updates on the ongoing mosquito control efforts during a media briefing following a live inspection of the operations at the DSCC’s emergency operations center (Shitalakkhya Hall).
He highlighted that the DSCC is actively engaged in larviciding and adulticiding to eliminate both mosquito larvae and adult mosquitoes.

Dr Sher Ali emphasized that special mosquito control activities are conducted based on the addresses of dengue patients reported by the Directorate General of Health Services.

These targeted interventions are part of a broader strategy to manage and mitigate the spread of dengue.

The DSCC Administrator also noted that the natural environmental conditions this year have been favorable for controlling dengue. With temperatures exceeding 35°C for a significant period, mosquito density has decreased, aiding in dengue control efforts.

Dr Sher Ali assured that any emerging issues will be addressed promptly.
Before his statement, Dr Sher Ali observed the field-level dengue control activities through a live Facebook session and provided necessary directives to enhance the effectiveness of the ongoing measures.
