Allegation of sudden hike: Drive in Barishal Hilsa market

Consumer Directorate operated drive in Barishal Hilsa market to investigate cause of sudden hike of hilsa price afterthe news of Hilsa export to India published. The Barishal Divisional Office of the National Consumer Protection Directorate has conducted the operation on Wednesday (September 25) noon after receiving information about the price increase.

Directorate of Consumer Affairs warned wholesalers and retailers in the raid.
Apurba Adhikari, Deputy Director of Barishal Office of Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, saidin order that no one can sell hilsa at high prices in the retail market, instructions are given to pull the price list.

However, no inconsistency was found in the price of hilsa during the drive in the market. He cautioned that action will be taken against anyone who tries to syndicate and sell at higher prices.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday hilsa weighing one Kg. is being sold at Tk 68,000, weighing1200 grams at Tk 72,000 and LC (800 to 999 grams) at Tk 62,000 in Barisal market.
