Three members of a family died mysteriously on September 12 in Bhabail Uttarpara village of Ashulia in Savar.
The victims are Mizanur Rahman Bachchu (53), his fourth wife Sapna Begum (28) and their daughter Jannatul (4).
Sources said Bachchu’s first wife’s son Tanvir Hasan Himel (22) lived with them.
Revealing the mystery of the death two weeks after the incident, PBI said that Himel and his accomplice Tariqul Islam Tarek alias Hridoy (28) killed these three people and set fire to the house to stage a suicide drama.
On the night of the incident, Swapna Begum’s sister Lavonnya Akhter filed a murder case with Ashulia police station.
Police Superintendent of Dhaka District PBI Kudrat-e-Khuda confirmed this in a press briefing at Uttara PBI office on Tuesday noon.
On October 4, PBI arrested Tariqul Islam Tarek alias Hriday (28) from Nawabganj, Dhaka.
Later, a court remanded him for four days. Based on Tarek information, victim Bachchu’s son Tanveer Hasan Himel was arrested from Jirabo area of Ashulia on October 24.
Superintendent of Police Kudrat-i-Khuda said, “Accused in the murder case, Tanvir Hasan Himel is the child of the first wife of the victim, Mizanur Rahman Bachchu.”
After the divorce with his first wife, Bachchu married twice, but even with them, Bachchu’s family did not sustain. Swapna Begum is his fourth wife.
Swapna Begum and Bachchu have a four-year-old daughter, Jannatul.
They all lived together. Bachchu and Sapna have a conflict with Himel regarding various family matters. Due to which Swapna Begum and Bachchu planned to kill their step son Himel.
He said, “A month and a half before the murder, the arrested accused Tariqul Islam Tarek alias Hriday (28) was brought by Mizanur Rahman Bachchu to his house.
Later let him stay in a room attached to his flat and arrange his meals with them.
He also said, ’10-12 days before the murder, Mizanur Rahman Bachchu, Swapna Begum and Tariqul Islam planned to kill Himel. But Himel got to know about this secretly.
SP Kudrat said Himel later went to Tariqul Islam and asked for the details of the incident. At one stage, Tariqul confessed to Himel about the plan to kill Islam.
Then Himel, cries a lot to Tarikul and manages him. Himel and Tariqul then plan to kill Bachchu and Swapna Begum.’
