Dr. Tahmeed Ahmed, Executive Director of the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), has been named to the 2025 TIME100 Health list-TIME’s annual selection of the 100 most influential people shaping the future of global health.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, this recognition honours Dr. Tahmeed’s groundbreaking work in maternal and child health, nutrition, and evidence-based healthcare solutions in resource-constrained environments.
Under his stewardship, icddr,b has significantly expanded its global footprint through innovative research and life-saving public health interventions that have benefitted millions across Bangladesh and beyond.
Dr. Tahmeed is set to join fellow honourees at the TIME100 Impact Dinner: Leaders Shaping the Future of Health, to be held on 13 May in New York. He has also been invited to deliver an inspirational toast-an honoured TIME tradition that elevates voices shaping the future of global health. His address will be featured editorially and across TIME’s digital platforms. His inclusion in the TIME100 Health list is not only a testament to his personal achievements but also serves as a beacon for aspiring Bangladeshi scientists and researchers-demonstrating that with dedication, passion, and perseverance, they too can attain global recognition.
