Chattogram Bureau :
The former organising secretary of BNP and former president of the metropolitan BNP Dr. Shahadat Hossain, will take oath as Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) today (Sunday). Local Government Rural Development (LGRD) and Land Adviser AF Hasan Arif Lands will administer the oath to him.
It is said that the central leaders of BNP will be present in the event apart from the senior officials of the administration. On the occasion of taking oath of Dr. Shahadat Hossain, many leaders and activists are going to Dhaka from Chattogram.
Dr. Shahadat Private Secretary Maruful Haque Chowdhury said that after taking the oath, CCC Mayor will visit the mazar of BNP founder and martyred President Ziaur Rahman. He will visit the mazar and pay homage there. CCC new mayor will return to Chattogram on November 5 and take charge.
On the night of October 8, Dr. Shahadat Hossain has been declared the Mayor of CCC by the Election Commission (EC) administration wing.
Earlier on October 1 Dr. Shahadat Hossain Chattogram Election Tribunal declared as CCC Mayor.
This judgment was given in view of the case filed seeking annulment of the election results held on January 27, 2021.
