Dr. Moulana Mohammad Maksudur Rahman of Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif was recognized as one the distinguished individuals to receive a PhD certificate directly from the Honourable Chief Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh and Nobel Peace Laureate, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The prestigious event took place during the University of Chittagong’s 5th Convocation on May 14, 2025, with more than 23,000 graduates in attendance – marking it as one of the largest convocations in the university’s history.
Dr. Rahman was awarded his Ph.D. under the Department of Islamic Studies for his dissertation titled “Maulana Abdul Hai: An Erudite Jurist and Saint.” His earlier M.Phil. thesis, “HazratAshraf Jahangir Simnani (RA) and His Odd Encounters in Sultanat-i-Bangalah: Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif – A Case Study,” further solidified his standing as a leading Islamic scholar. He achieved top positions in the combined merit lists of Dakhil, Alim, Fazil (Bachelor), and Kamil (Masters), with academic distinction in Hadith, Islamic Theology, Tafsirul Quran, and Islamic Studies.
Additionally, he earned First Class First in both B.A. and M.A. under the National University’s combined merit ranking, marking him as an exceptional scholar throughout his academic journey.
Mohammad Maksudur Rahman born into the esteemed spiritual lineage of Mirzakhil Darbar, Chattogram, Dr. Rahman is the proud son of Moulana Mohammad Areful Hai, Sajjadah Nashinof the Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif. For over 200 years, their family has carried a legacy of soulful connection of love, spiritual wisdom, and philanthropic service – embedded in the teachings of their forefather Hazrat Shah Jahangir (R.A.).
His forefathers pioneered rural progress – building roads (Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif Road), a post office, T&T links, introducing banking, electricity, and a local bazaar.
He proudly carries forward this legacy of transformative, sustainable social service nationwide.
Dr. Rahman humbly thanked Almighty Allah and expressed deep gratitude to Chief Advisor, the Education Advisor, the Vice Chancellor, and the entire university administration.
He credited his forefathers for inspiring his lifelong mission to spread true Islamic teachings through scholarship and public service.
With over 50 published works in Bangla, Arabic, English, and Urdu, Dr. Rahman’s impact extends far beyond academia.
His humanitarian initiatives encompass poverty alleviation, orphan support, disaster response, community healthcare, interfaith unity, and spiritual counselling.
He also advances sustainable agriculture through seasonal irrigation projects like sandbag cross dams – demonstrating a profound commitment to uplifting lives through practical service and compassionate leadership and inclusive rural development.
