Student leaders of antidiscrimination movement announced that as we stand on the blood of martyrs, so we don’t let anyone else be the oppressor again.
Sujoy Biswas Shuvo, a student of Barishal University (BU) and one of the coordinators of the antidiscrimination student movement, further said that if someone identifying himself as coordination and wants to become an oppressor, he should be resisted first.
He made this comment at the Barishal divisional law and order and security situation observation meeting held at the conference room of Barishal Circuit House on Wednesday (August 14).
The meeting was attended by representatives of all law enforcement agencies, Hindu community, government offices, anti-discrimination student movement representatives and journalists.
Barishal Divisional Commissioner Showkat Ali presided over the meeting.
Among others it was attended by Major General Abdul Qaium Molla, Barishal Area Commander of the Army and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7th Infantry Division, Brigadier General Amirul Azim, Commander of the 6th Infantry Division, DIG of BarishalRange Ilyas Sharif, Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner Jihadul Kabir, Coast Guard Zonal Commander Captain Mohammad Shaheen Majid.
In the meeting, the students also said that due to absence oflaw and order forces, the students have to carry out the search activities along with the traffic management work on the road.
So a identity card should be issued and showed openly with photo and identify to control the volunteers, the student leader suggested.
