Doa Mahfil held for Khandaker Mahbub Hossain

A doa mahfil was held at the Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association Mosque seeking forgiveness and peace for bereaved soul of late Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, a veteran lawyer, former president of the Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association, and Vice-Chairman of the BNP.

The event, organized by Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and Associates on the occasion of his second death anniversary, took place on Sunday after Asr prayers. Over a hundred lawyers attended the gathering, prayed for the deceased, and wished peace for his soul.

Prominent participants included Zainul Abedin, Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council and former president of the Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association, as well as Khandaker Mahbub Hossain’s juniors Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajol, Md. Shishir Monir, Mostafizur Rahman, M. Masud Rana, and A.K. Khan Uzzal, among others.

Speaking at the event, Zainul Abedin said, “His demise has left a void. Today, we prayed for him, and everyone joined in seeking forgiveness for his soul.”

Veteran lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain passed away on December 31, 2023 while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

Khandaker Mahbub Hossain was born on March 20, 1938, in Bamna, Barguna. His father, Khandaker Abul Hasan, was an educationist. In 1958, Mahbub enrolled at Dhaka University, and in 1964, he completed his law degree and began practicing law.

On July 17, 1988, he was enlisted as a senior advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. He was elected president of the Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association four times and served twice as Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council.
