DMP’s CTTC recovered firearms

Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have recovered various types of firearms and bullets in abandoned condition.

Wari, Airport, Rupnagar and Shahjahanpur police stations of the capital conducted separate drives on Monday night.

Besides, CTTC’s special action unit destroyed a grenade found abandoned in Gazipur and defused 2 kg of explosives in Jessore.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the sources of Wari police station, 111 rounds of fresh revolver bullets, two long range tear gas shells and 6 rounds of shotgun shells were recovered from Chamu Dental Mor area of Tipu Sultan Road of Wari police station at around 8:30 pm on Monday night.

Airport police sources said that based on tip-off, airport police recovered 13 rounds of Shisa and 4 rounds of rubber cartridges from a garbage heap near the Babus Salam mosque on the east side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

According to Rupnagar police station, on the same day, DMP’s Rupnagar police station recovered a part of a Chinese rifle abandoned inside the Jheel of Rupnagar residential area of Mirpur.

Later, according to Rajarbagh Central Police Armoury, the recovered Chinese rifle is the rifle stolen from Mirpur Model Police Station. Apart from this, according to sources of Shahjahanpur police station, they recovered a pistol abandoned under the Rajarbagh-Malibagh flyover on Sunday after receiving information through National Emergency Service 999.

According to the sources of the Special Action Group of the CTTC unit of the DMP, the bomb disposal team of the Special Action unit successfully destroyed a powerful old Argus grenade near Arshi Nagar Resort of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Station.

Besides, on Monday, the bomb disposal team members of CTTC safely defused about 2 kg of high explosive materials seized by the Monirampur police station of Jessore district by the orders of the National Court.
DC Talebur Rahman said that the operation of Dhaka Metropolitan Police is continuing to recover any kind of illegal weapons.
