Staff Reporter :

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued 14 security guidelines to ensure the safety of homes, businesses, and institutions during the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation. Given that this year’s Eid break may last up to nine days, authorities are urging citizens to take necessary precautions before leaving their homes.

A DMP statement, shared on its official Facebook page, emphasized the importance of following these instructions to prevent thefts and break-ins during the extended holiday.

Key Instructions from DMP:
Ensure doors and windows are properly locked before leaving. Use multiple locks if needed.
Install CCTV cameras in shops, houses, and institutions, ensuring they remain operational.
Consider auto-lock systems and security alarms for added protection.

Store valuable items and documents in a secure place, with relatives, or in bank lockers.
Inform landlords before leaving rented residences.

Ensure all electrical appliances, gas stoves, and water taps are turned off before departure.
Security guards should be instructed not to allow strangers into premises without proper verification.

Keep garages and storage areas secured.
Trim tree branches near windows and doors to prevent access for intruders.
Report suspicious individuals loitering in the neighborhood to the local police.

DMP also advised institutions not to grant leave to all employees at once, ensuring some staff remain present to monitor security systems.
