DMP bans rallies near Secretariat, Jamuna

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all rallies, gatherings, and processions near the Bangladesh Secretariat, the Chief Adviser’s official residence at Jamuna, and surrounding areas, effective from Thursday until further notice.

In a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali said the ban was imposed by virtue of the powers vested in Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).

The ban also covers the capital’s Hotel Inter Continental intersection, Shahbagh intersection, Kakrail intersection and Mintoo Road.

According to the notice, the ban was imposed in the interest of maintaining public order.
