Divisional Commissioner opens OMS prog in Sylhet

Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi inaugurated low-cost rice and flour under the OMS programme among the public at the open market at the mouth of the Kine bridge (next to the circuit house) in Sylhet city on Monday which was started by Sylhet food Department.

Inaugurating the OMS programme, Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Khan Md. Reza-un-Nabi said that the government has started this welfare program thinking about the public, especially the low-income people. In addition, calling on OMS dealers, he said that attention should be paid to ensuring that the common people can receive this service without any problems and that this program is visible to them.

This OMS program has been started through new dealers. New dealers have been appointed in 16 out of 42 wards. He said that the process of appointing 26 more dealers is ongoing and will be completed very soon.

Regional Food Controller of Sylhet Division SM Saiful Islam, Upazila Food Controller of Sylhet Sadar Md. Kamrul Islam, Upazila Food Controller (Technical) Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Khadimnagar LSD Mohammad Mahabubur Rahman Chowdhury, Editor of Daily Jalalabad Muktabis-un-Noor and representatives of various print and electronic media were present at the inauguration of this program.

As part of the OMS program, rice is being sold in shops or trucks in various wards of Sylhet metropolis at a price of 30 taka per kg and flour at a price of 24 taka per kg, with a maximum of five kg per person. This sale program will continue at a fixed price through specific dealers in each ward on other days except government holidays.
