The interim government is keen to prepare the July Declaration based on national consensus. As part of the effort, the government planned to discuss with political parties to prepare the declaration on the July uprising.
“It can be confirmed that discussions are ongoing and will continue with political parties in the coming days. We are hopeful that further progress on this matter will be evident soon,” Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said on Sunday.
He said several inquiries regarding advancements on the July Declaration have been received.
Alam was addressing the media at the Foreign Service Academy in the evening. CA’s Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, also participated in the briefing.
On December 30, the interim government announced the initiation of a process to draft a declaration on the July uprising, emphasizing the need for national consensus.
The declaration aims to strengthen the unity of the people forged during the July uprising, embodying its anti-fascist essence and advocating for state reform.
The draft will reflect the input of political parties, students, and particularly the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, which played a pivotal role in leading the mass uprising.
The declaration seeks to encapsulate the ideals of the July uprising, the core of national unity, and the aspirations of the people, as highlighted by the press wing.
The government expressed confidence that the declaration would be finalized unanimously, with the active involvement of all stakeholders, and subsequently presented to the nation.
