A discussion and Doa Mahfil in memory of late Barrister Mainul Hosein was held at the Law Chamber in the city’s Kakrail on Saturday after Zohr Prayers.
Participants at the discussion and Doa Mahfil paid rich tributes to late Barrister Mainul Hosein, one of the country’s renowned jurists and also an adviser to the caretaker government.
Saju Hosein, wife of late Barrister Mainu Hosein, Barrister Hasan Azim, Barrister Ragib Rouf Chowdhury, Deputy Attorney General Advocate Bipul Bagmar, Advocate Moniruzzaman Hawlader, Barrister Khondkar Moinuddin, Barrister Yasir Arafat, Advocate Abdur Rahim, Nurul Huda Chowdhury, senior journalist Syed Tosharaf Ali, among others, were present on the occasion.
Deputy Attorney General Advocate Bipul Bagmar moderated the discussion.
Speaking on the occasion Barrister Hasan Azim recalling Barrister Mainul Hosein said that he has learnt a lot from him (Mr. Mainul). He said Barrister Mainul used to edit the draft of his case very closely.
He (Mr. Mainul) was also very popular as a columnist and was a strong adherent to ‘humanity of justice’. He was a strong advocate of democracy.
Barrister Ragib Rouf said Barrister Mainul was a very conscientious lawyer. He never pleaded for any case just for money; rather he was a true professional. He was a soft spoken person.
Advocate Abdur Rahim said because of Barrister Mainul he could have become a lawyer. “In his death I personally lost my guardian”.
Deputy Attorney General Barrister Bipul Bagmar said that he, in true, learnt the legal teaching from Barrister Mainul Hosein.
Syed Tosharaf Ali said Barrister Mainul Hosein was a true patriot and thoroughly honest. He was always vocal against any social ills, and criticism against wrongdoings was his main theme of journalism.
People are encouraged to read his in-depth writings on national and international events. Aside from the legal profession he was fully devoted to journalism.
He always welcomes the good jobs but feels utterly disturbed seeing wrongdoings in the society.
He was active in spreading the ideology of his father, an icon in journalism and a great social reformer, Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia.
The discussion was followed by Doa and Milad Mahfil. Prayers were offered for the peace of the soul.
