The 34th International Day of Disabled Persons and 27th National Day of Disabled Persons observed across the country on Wednesday.
In Kishoreganj, Department of Social Services including District Administration have arranged with various programmes aimed at promoting an inclusive society under the theme “Build a disability-inclusive society, accelerate social progress.”
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj, Md. Aslam Mollah attended as chief guest and Civil Surgeon (CS) dr.Ovijeet Sharma, ADC(General) Mizabe Rahmat as special guests while Deputy Director (DD) of Social Services, Md. Kamruzzaman in the chair.
Marking the day, a colorful rally was brought out in the town led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md.Aslam Mollah on Wednesday morning.
A discussion meeting held at local Callectorate Conference room on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner( DC) Md.Aslam Mollah said that persons with speech, hearing and physical disabilities are integral members of society.
“They are our children; they are not a burden. We want to build a harmonious and beautiful Bangladesh with them,” DC added.
Later, wheelchairs were distributed among helpless and elderly persons with disabilities as part of the day’s programme.
