Direct Dhaka, Karachi flight from December
Staff Reporter :
Direct air travel between Bangladesh and Pakistan is set to commence from December, Bangladesh High Commissioner in Islamabad Iqbal Hussain Khan said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Khan described the development as a significant step toward strengthening connectivity and fostering closer ties between the two friendly countries.
The High Commissioner pointed out that there have been no direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh for several years. Following the political transition in Bangladesh and the improvement of bilateral relations, two Pakistani private airlines, Fly Jinnah and AirSial, have received approval to operate direct flights between the two countries.
Khan also revealed that Mahan Air will begin operating three weekly flights connecting Dhaka and Karachi starting December, though specific dates and further details were not disclosed.
Highlighting efforts to ease travel, the High Commissioner further added, “The visa process has been simplified. Visas can now be obtained on the joint recommendation of LCCI and the Bangladesh Honorary Consulate in Lahore, with issuance typically within three to four days, making travel between the two countries faster and more convenient.”
