Joypurhat Correspondent:

A human chain was formed in Joypurhat on Monday demanding the implementation of a 4-point charter and an end to 45 years of discrimination against Sub-Assistant Community Medical Officers.

The demonstration was held around 11:00 AM in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Adviser through the Deputy Commissioner.

Speakers at the program included Abdul Hakim, President of the Bangladesh Diploma Medical Association (Joypurhat District Unit), General Secretary Mahmudul Hasan, and Organizing Secretary Moshiur Rahman Munna.

They demanded that, like other diploma holders, medical diploma professionals be promoted to the 10th grade and given opportunities for advancement. They also called for formal recognition of their professional identity with the title “Diploma Physician.”

Additional demands included immediate recruitment to vacant posts, the creation of new positions in both government and private sectors, and access to higher education in BMDC-recognized clinical subjects that meet international standards.
