Dialogue on Involving Local Stakeholders to Ensure Service Delivery in Sylhet

Sylhet Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin said that to ensure health and basic services for every section of the society, including the marginalized and transgender people, responsible institutions will have to work more collaboratively. Sustainable development is not possible without the active participation of local stakeholders.
He said these things as the chief guest at a dialogue on Involving Local Stakeholders to Ensure Service Delivery organized at a prestigious hotel in Sylhet on Monday (September 15).
Organized by Bandhu Social Welfare Society and supported by Citizenship: Civic Engagement Fund (CEF), the main theme of this dialogue was Involving Local Stakeholders: Local Initiatives to Increase Service Delivery.
Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development, Sylhet Md. Abdur Rouf Shah,Deputy Director of Women’s Department, Sylhet Shahina Akhtar, Deputy Director of Social Services Department, Sylhet Md. Abdur Rafiq,
Senior Assistant Judge and District Legal Aid Officer, Sylhet Bishweshwar Singh,Deputy Civil Surgeon, Sylhet Dr. Janmejoy Dutta also spoke the programme as special guest at the event.
Representatives of various GOs and NGOs were present at the dialogue.
Moshiur Rahman, Manager (Policy Advocacy and HR) of Bandhu delivered the welcome speech at the dialogue. Wachakuruni Khan Akash, Project Officer of Bandhu, presented the progress and gap analysis of the Citizenship CEF-funded project.
The speakers in the discussion said that in order to deliver services to the doorsteps of the people, coordinated steps should be taken by the field level officials starting from the policy-making stage. Local level dialogue and participatory initiatives can play an important role in ensuring access to services, especially for the marginalized and deprived communities.
At the conclusion of the program, Sukta, president of the Hijra Youth Welfare Organization, Sylhet, expressed her gratitude.
