Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said the interim government will soon hold discussions with political parties to prepare the declaration for the July mass uprising. He emphasised that the government has already prioritised the creation of the declaration and expressed hope that it will reflect the expectations of all.
He made these statements during a briefing on Sunday afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
Regarding bringing Sheikh Hasina back to the country, Shafiqul Alam said, “The interim government will make every possible effort to bring her back. If unsuccessful, the next government will continue the effort, as it is the nation’s aspiration and duty.
“Sheikh Hasina would be brought back and brought to justice.”
He emphasised that her alleged crimes, including the 2009 BDR massacre, the 2013 Shapla Square killings, and numerous cases of enforced disappearances and murders, among others, remain ongoing.
The press secretary also mentioned that, just as the killers of her father were brought back from various countries, Sheikh Hasina too should be brought back in the same manner.
He said, “A task force was formed in November to investigate the Sagar-Runi murder case. We have spoken to 25-30 new individuals as part of the investigation, and the PBI (Police Bureau of Investigation) has been doing a lot of work.”
He expressed hope that the PBI would make significant progress, acknowledging their extensive efforts.
