Dhanmondi Sports Club, Legends of Rupganj, Gazi Group Cricketers won their respective matches of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the different venues across Dhaka District on Thursday. By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Gazi Group confirmed their ‘Super League’ berth. At the BKSP Ground-4 in Savar, Dhanmondi Sports Club defeated Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club in their 10th match.
Chasing Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club’s fighting total of 280 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs, Dhanmondi Sports Club reached the winning target making 284 for the loss of five wickets when they had 17 balls to spare.
Nasir Hossain of Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club notched up 77, while his teammate Asadulla Al Galib hit 65. Fazle Mahmud Rabbi of Dhanmondi Sports Club was his team’s highest wicket taker with three wickets at the cost of 59 runs.
Nurul Hasan Sohan of Dhanmondi Sports Club hit a captain’s knock of 97. Besides, Yasir Ali Chowdhury remained unbeaten with 55 runs.
Nuhayel Sandeed was the highest wicket taker of the losers who grabbed three wickets instead of 65 runs. At the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur, Legends of Rupganj earned a narrow 10-run win over Brothers Union Limited, according to the Duckworth/Lewis Method in their 10th match.
Legends of Rupganj piled up a satisfactory 277 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then restricted Brothers Union to 260 for the loss of nine wickets in 48.4 overs. Brothers Union’s revised target was 271 to win in 48.4 overs.
Soumya Sarkar of Legends of Rupganj hit 80, while his teammate Mahmudul Hasan Joy made 59 runs.
Yeasin Arafat Meshu of Brothers Union captured three wickets in the space of 56 runs. Opener Mahfijul Islam Rabbi top-scored with 76 runs for the Gopibag outfit.
Shoriful Islam harpooned six wickets in lieu of 40 runs.
At the BKSP Ground-3 in Savar, Gazi Group Cricketers recorded a massive 170-run win over Partex Sporting Club in their 10th match.
Gazi Group Cricketers made 302 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then all out Partex Sporting Club to 132 in 31.5 overs.
Anamul Haque Bijoy of Gazi Group made 78, his teammate Sabbir Hossain remained unbeaten with 64 runs and their teammate Shamim Mia hit a run-a-ball 53. Later, wicketkeeper-batter Adil of Partex remained unbeaten with 53 runs.
