Shakib Khan, Arifin Shuvoo, Siam Ahmed, Afran Nisho, and Shariful Razz – the authority of the current Dhallywood industry lies in the hands of these five actors. If you flip through the calendar of Bangladeshi cinema, you will see their reign prevailing throughout. Although all of them primarily target big festivals like Eid for film releases, they remain busy year-round with film-related news, preparations, meetings, and promotions.
Shakib Khan
Producers are always eager to secure Shakib Khan’s schedule for both Eid festivals. His two Eid films are usually finalized at least a year in advance. Last Eid-ul-Azha saw the release of his film Tandob. Right after its release, the film for the next Eid-ul-Fitr was confirmed – a story set in Dhaka during the 1990s. It will feature crime, love, action, emotion, and family drama. TV drama director Abu Hayat Mahmud will direct the project. Although the title has not been finalized yet, the production company announced that the first look and title will be revealed next week.
Arifin Shuvoo
Last Eid-ul-Azha saw the release of ArifinShuvoo’s Neel Chakra, which received praise. Since then, there has been no news about his new projects. According to sources, he has had multiple meetings with two directors regarding new films. Preliminary agreements have been reached, and only the formal signing remains before the official announcement. Reports suggest these films are being made specifically for festival releases.
Siam Ahmed
Last Eid-ul-Fitr, Siam Ahmed earned praise for his performance in Jongli. The appreciation grew even stronger after the film was released on OTT platforms. While that buzz was still alive, fresh news emerged about him – it was said that in a new film being produced by ShahreenSumi, the producer of Shakib Khan’s Borbad, Siam would be playing the lead role. MehediHasanHridoy, the same director, will helm this film as well. However, no official announcement has been made yet. Apart from this, Siam has been meeting with multiple directors to discuss potential projects, stating that he is listening to scripts and planning.
Afran Nisho
No film starring AfranNisho was released last Eid-ul-Azha. However, he made a cameo appearance in Shakib Khan’s Tandob, keeping himself connected to the festive season. His upcoming project is Dom, which will be released next Eid-ul-Fitr. The film will also feature ChanchalChowdhury and will be directed by RedoanRony. Several directors are considering Nisho for projects slated for the following Eid-ul-Azha, with Raihan Rafi topping the list. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
Sariful Razz
Last Eid-ul-Azha saw the release of Razz’s Insaf. Since then, the actor has been relatively low-profile in the news. According to sources, he has already held meetings with three directors regarding three new films. Discussions are also ongoing about his involvement in a film under the production banner Alpha i. However, none of his new films have been finalized yet.
