The committee formed by Dhaka University to investigate the murder of student Shahriar Alam Shammo has officially submitted its findings to the university administration.
According to a press release issued by the university’s Public Relations Office on Monday morning, Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and convener of the investigation committee, handed over the report to Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan at his residence.
Among those present during the handover were Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed and Assistant Proctor Sharmin Kabir, who served as the committee’s member secretary.
The press release stated that the report was prepared following due procedures, and the university will determine its next steps based on the findings, in line with institutional guidelines.
Shammo, a student of the Institute of Education and Research from the 2018–19 academic session, was fatally stabbed at Suhrawardy Udyan around 11pm on May 13. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital shortly after midnight, where doctors declared him dead.
He was also the literature and publication secretary of the Sir AF Rahman Hall unit of the BNP’s student wing. Shammo hailed from Belkuchi in Sirajganj.
