The streets of Dhaka have come alive with vibrant energy and bustling shoppers as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches.
With only a few days left before the grand festival, people are flocking to shopping centers, markets, and street vendors in search of the perfect Eid outfits, accessories, and gifts.
From traditional clothing like sarees, salwar kameez, and kurta sets to modern western wear, the variety of merchandise available this year is impressively diverse.
Popular shopping areas such as New Market, Gulshan, and Dhanmondi have been especially crowded, with long queues forming outside stores as people eagerly hunt for the best deals and new collections.
Shoppers from all walks of life are seen scurrying between colorful stalls and high-end boutiques, while vendors offering everything from perfumes and shoes to jewelry and home decor line the streets. The festive spirit is palpable, with shopkeepers and customers exchanging cheerful Eid greetings as music and lights fill the air.
Sadiya Rahman, a shopper at New Market, said, “Eid shopping is a tradition, and it feels so exciting to be out here with my family. I’ve already bought new clothes for my children, and now I’m just looking for some accessories to complete the look.”
Many businesses are offering special discounts and promotions, which have further fueled the excitement. “We’ve been preparing for weeks, and now that the Eid rush is here, we’re seeing huge sales,” said Mohammad Alam, the owner of a clothing store in the Gulshan area. “Customers are buying more this year, and we’re happy to be part of their celebrations.”
The demand for new fabrics and exclusive Eid collections is soaring, with many designers launching special lines for the occasion. Whether it’s hand-embroidered kurtas, elegant sarees, or stunning accessories, Dhaka’s shoppers are taking full advantage of the festive offers.
However, the shopping frenzy has led to some concerns, with traffic jams and overcrowding causing delays on busy streets. The authorities have urged shoppers to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines to avoid accidents, especially in markets and malls where the footfall is high.
With Eid around the corner, it’s clear that the city is embracing the festive spirit. As Dhaka prepares for one of the most significant celebrations of the year, both shopkeepers and customers are looking forward to a joyful and prosperous Eid.
The excitement on the streets of Dhaka continues to grow, as people from all corners of the city come together to celebrate the season of joy and gratitude.
