City Desk :
Dhaka has slipped further down in the global rankings of liveable cities.
According to the Global Liveability Index 2024, released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) on Thursday, Dhaka is now ranked 168th out of 173 cities, down from 166th last year, reports UNB.
Vienna, Austria, is at the top of the list, thanks to its excellent infrastructure, rich culture, entertainment, and high-quality education and healthcare. Other top-ranking cities include Copenhagen (Denmark), Zurich (Switzerland), Melbourne (Australia), and Calgary (Canada).
Osaka, Japan, is the only Asian city in the top ten, ranking ninth with a score of 96, while Dhaka scores 43 and is sixth from the bottom.
The EIU’s ranking is based on key factors such as healthcare, education, stability, infrastructure, and environment.
