Dhaka Medical College (DMC) has been declared closed for an indefinite period amid ongoing student protests over a five-point demand, including calls for improved residential facilities.
A notice signed by DMC Principal Dr Md Kamrul Alam on Saturday stated that the closure will take effect from Sunday, June 22. The decision was made at an emergency meeting of the academic council.
Students have been ordered to vacate their dormitories by 12 noon on Sunday. However, the directive will not apply to professional MBBS examinees and foreign students.
Students have been demonstrating on campus in recent days, demanding better accommodation and other facilities.
