Dhaka invites Turkish aerospace investment

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has called for enhanced cooperation with Turkey in the field of aerospace technology, positioning the country as a reliable strategic partner in this emerging sector.

During a bilateral meeting with the President and CEO of Turkish Aerospace, Mehmet Demiro?lu, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 on Saturday, the Adviser proposed deeper collaboration in aerospace development, describing it as a mutually beneficial opportunity for both nations.

The meeting was attended by Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Turkey, and senior officials from
both countries, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides agreed to explore viable investment avenues in Bangladesh and pursue technology transfer initiatives to support human resource development.

In response to an official invitation from Adviser Hossain, the Turkish side consented to dispatch a high-level delegation led by the CEO of Turkish Aerospace to Bangladesh to assess current opportunities and potential areas for cooperation in the aerospace sector.

In a separate meeting on Saturday with Deputy Minister Ambassador A. Berris Ekinci, Adviser Mahfuj Alam discussed a range of bilateral issues, including strengthening diplomatic ties.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s development and investment goals. She also commended the ongoing reform initiatives undertaken by Chief Adviser to the Interim Government, Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Furthering economic dialogue, Adviser Alam held discussions with Turkey’s Minister of Trade, Dr Omer Bolat, on Friday. During the meeting, Alam reiterated Bangladesh’s interest in deepening bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Dr Bolat welcomed the proposal and expressed Turkey’s intent to convene a meeting of the Turkey-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission in Dhaka later this year, as part of efforts to enhance economic engagement between the two countries.
