Sheikh Arif Bulbon :The biggest trade show in Asia, the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2015 was held at the west side of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. In DITF, Bangladesh displayed quality exportable goods for the visitors from both home and abroad. The DITF was earlier scheduled to have ended on January 31, but has been extended until February 10 on account of the recent flurry of hartals (political strikes and blockade). Entry fee of the fair was Tk 30 for grown-ups and Tk 20 for the immature.Local and foreign concerns such as Bombay Sweets, Walton, Akhtar, RFL Plastics, Jamuna, LG, Samsung and Sony represented their products in the fair.Companies from 14 countries – India, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Iran, Thailand, US, Turkey, Singapore, Australia, the UK, UAE, South Korea and Germany – participated in the fair. International brands account for just one-tenth of the trade space. Clearly the event was foremost concerned with spotlighting Bangladeshi brands to both international buyers and a growing domestic consumer market. From Leather or lilacs, kebabs or cameras, everything was available during the trade fair.
